Expert DARDR Input Provided
by Beyond the Streets

Beyond the Streets is committed to ensuring that
learning from Domestic Abuse Related Death Reviews (DARDRs) concerning those involved in the sex industry is of the highest quality, and that DARDR report recommendations bring about real change. Where an individual is known to have been involved in the sex industry or if the panel believes that there may have been involvement in the sex industry, we can provide training and expert input to ensure that DARDR Chairs and panels have the critical analytical tools to consider the intersectionality of the individual’s experience, and to understand potential vulnerability.

Our Research and Impact Manager, Dr Katie Thorlby, has over 15 years’ experience in the sector and has a PhD in exploring routes out of selling sex. Katie is experienced in providing expert input into DARDRs, having acted as an expert panel member, and provided bespoke training for a DARDR panel and for a cohort of DARDR Chairs. Katie will bring an attention to detail and a depth of knowledge concerning the sex industry to the DARDR process, draw attention to barriers an individual may have faced in engaging with services, and support panels to draw on the research base and reflect on the wider debates surrounding the sex industry.

We are able to offer a Gold, Silver and Bronze support package for the DARDR process.

“We have worked with Beyond the Streets on several DHRs, and each time, they've delivered exceptional and highly detailed contributions. Their efficiency is remarkable, and their dedication to improving responses for individuals involved in the sex industry is evident. Their thorough briefings to panels and detailed feedback on reports have proved invaluable. As a result, our reports have greatly benefitted from their expertise. I would highly recommend using them as an expert panel member for this work.”
Amy Hewitt
DHR Manager at Standing Together Against Domestic Abuse
“Having specialist input where it’s needed makes a huge difference to a review. In my experience, Beyond the Streets made an invaluable contribution. By sharing their expert knowledge, Beyond the Streets helped us think through the potential impact of experience of the sex industry, as well as identify learning and develop recommendations, all while keeping the victim at the heart of the review.”
DHR Chair and Independent Consultant
