Getting out? Supporting women seeking to leave the sex industry

This training explores models, language and research around transitioning out of the sex industry, and reducing the barriers women face.

About this event

This course is delivered by a trainer who has substantial experience of working directly with women, as well as understanding of policy, research in this context, and service creation. The content is shaped by 20 years of practice and our continual bias of learning from women with Lived Experience.

By the end of the session learners will have:

1. Explored the language and controversies around ‘exiting’ the sex industry

2. Been introduced to an overview of up-to-date research on transitioning and routes out

3. Got to grips with some available models around leaving the sex industry

4. Reflected on their part in reducing barriers for women who want to stop/reduce selling sex

This event is aimed at making the sector stronger and learning about a trauma-informed and woman-centred approach. We ask that all who attend respect this intention and not treat it as an opportunity to challenge the various political views of the sex industry.

This course is for any professionals involved in supporting women selling sex or wanting to develop in that area. It is also appropriate for those who are responsible for commissioning services from local authorities, statutory services, third-sector professionals and policymakers.

Max number of participants – we purposely keep these sessions limited to 16 in order to keep it interactive as learners bring a wealth of experience. Therefore, places are limited to 2 people per organisation. Minimum number of participants to run this course is 6.

Please attend with one screen per person and a headset wherever possible.

Zoom will open at 9:15 to allow a settling-in time for a prompt start at 9:30
