FAQ – NOvember 2020 (Stop. Pause. Walk. Run.)

Q: I want to sign up – what’s the next step?
A. Firstly, THANK YOU for supporting Beyond the Streets vital work with women! The first step is to set up your fundraiser on Facebook, which you can do here. Make sure to set the page end date to 1st  Dec – this is very important as otherwise your fundraiser will expire after two weeks rather than going right through the challenge month

Then join the Facebook Group we set up for this challenge here. Click ‘Join Group’. Once you’re in, you can get tips, be inspired by others who have signed up and find out anything you want to know about the Stop. Pause. Walk. Run. challenge

Q: What if I’m not on Facebook?
If you’re not on Facebook then you can set a fundraiser up here at Virgin Money Giving

Q: When does the Stop. Pause. Walk. Run. challenge start?
A. It starts on 1st November and will run for the month of November.

Q: What do I have to do for this challenge?
A. The great thing about this challenge is you can design it yourself, which means more people can join us! There are four options:

STOP. Give something up for the month
PAUSE. Commit to finding some quiet space each day for reflection, gratitude, prayer or meditation
WALK. Set yourself a walking challenge – to walk an amount of miles or certain amount of time each day/across the month
RUN. Set yourself a running challenge – to run an amount of miles or certain amount of time each day/ across the month

You can pick just one, or if you’re feeling ambitious then try more than one at once! Join our Facebook group to see how people are designing their challenges.

Q: As it’s a virtual challenge, how do I prove I have taken part?
A. Post pictures and updates on your fundraising page of you before, after or during your challenge. It is a great way to show your friends and family who have sponsored you that you’re committed, and also to inspire others to join in!

Q. How do I raise money?
A. Facebook Fundraisers are the easiest way to raise money. You can set one up in a few seconds here (making sure you set the end date to 1st December) and then it’s really easy to share the page with your Facebook friends

Q: Do I have to set up a Facebook fundraiser?
A. A Facebook fundraiser is a great and easy way to get sponsors, share updates with your friends and family. All funds raised on Facebook get sent directly to Beyond the Streets. If you’re not on Facebook then you can set a fundraiser up here at Virgin Money Giving

Q: How do I edit the end date of my fundraising page?
A. This is a quirk of Facebook Fundraising pages – they are set up to close after 14 days. You need to manually change the date to 1st December. Here’s how to do that:

  • Go to your fundraising page
  • Click “Edit” under the main image and headline
  • Scroll down to the box that says ‘when should your fundraiser end?’
  • Select 1st December 2020
  • Then click Save in the top right

Q: My fundraiser ended before I finished the challenge. Can you re-start it?
A. This is a quirk of Facebook Fundraising pages – they are set up to close after 14 days. Unless you edit the end date, it will automatically end. Unfortunately, the only way around this is to set up a new fundraising page so make sure to edit your end date as above

Q: Where will my friends money go?
A. Directly to Beyond the Streets. You don’t have to worry about this, it happens automatically.

Q: How do I get my free friendship bands?
A. We’ll send you four friendship bands after you put your name and address here

Q: Can I start late or early?
A. Of course! Your fundraising challenge is designed by you, to suit your needs. As long as you share what your plan is with your friends and family who are supporting you.

Q: Can I just raise money offline?
A. Absolutely. You can then pay the money to us through our donation button here on our website

THANK YOU for being valued supporters of Beyond the Streets – we couldn’t do what we do without you!
