About this event
Safeguarding Training for Affiliated Projects of Beyond the Streets

Beyond the Streets is providing free online safeguarding training courses for Trustees and Safeguarding Leads who would appreciate the opportunity to ensure their training is up to date and specific for women who sell sex.

We want to ensure both these courses enable Trustees and Safeguarding Leads to work well together, understanding what each may need to do to ensure their charity/project meets all legal requirements and offers the best safeguarding practices for the women they serve.

DATES:

  • Safeguarding Leads: Thurs November 17th 9:30am – 12:30pm
  • Safeguarding Trustees: Thursday November 24th 7:30pm to 9:30pm

Safeguarding Leads

As the person responsible for the day to day safeguarding management and implementation of policy and procedures, we aim to cover all the core aspects of managing adult safeguarding, connecting into the agencies you may need to report to and understanding the legislation you and the charity will be held accountable to. We aim to explore making that accessible across the charity for volunteer, workers and messaging safeguarding to the women you serve.

By the end of the session, you will have:

  • Considered the key principles and aims of the Care Act 2014 in respect of women who sell sex
  • Reviewed types of harm and responses to different levels of abuse/ concerns with women selling sex
  • Have more appreciation for the importance of adult safeguarding process’, and the use of the Mental Capacity Act and Making Safeguarding personal (MSP)
  • Understood the effective management of concerns and allegations and using local reporting protocols (sec 42 enquiries)
  • Reflected on key responsibilities under the Care Act and how adult safeguarding can be upheld and further improved across the charity.
  • Have more appreciation of the importance of adult safeguarding process’ and the use of MCA/MSP when listening to women’s responses

Trainer: Designed and delivered by Elaine Davidson an NSPCC Accredited Safeguarding Trainer, who works with Beyond the Streets to ensure our practices are fit for purpose.

Audience: This training is FREE to Affiliated projects. Spaces are limited, so booking is essential. You are welcome to join both courses or pick one appropriate to your role.

We suggest max of 2 places per project and request individual screens please.
